Telford & Wrekin occurs as borough in the West Midlands region of England. It was created around 1974 as The Wrekin, the district of Shropshire.

In April 1, 1998 it became a unitary authority, independent from Shropshire County Council. A headquarters of the council come around Telford Town Centre. It remains within a Shropshire ceremonial county though.
